The 4th Edition of Volcom´s Spot to Spot in Avoriaz had it all over two days of shred:

Spring slush, airtime, smiles, worn down legs, burned lips, broken boards, bindings & bodies, endless parties and Sahara sand…

Sunday started with the Side Hits session at the classic “Star Wars” spot and this year participants had to share their clips to enter the comp and results are revealed at the end of this story!

A solid bunch of riders rode the slope also without entering the comp and the session was wild: gangs riding together, finding new lines, flying at you from all corners. Screams and laughs could be heard the entire chair ride back up.

Then meeting was set at the Arare snowpark to refuel with food & drinks while the kids had their own “prizes for tricks” session on a kicker.

The afternoon followed with a hip session, with local legend Nicolas Droz on the turntables on top of the hip to hype everyone up.

The spot was instantly ignited by a bunch of giant methods courtesy of Roli Tschoder, Niek Van der Velden and Lenny Oliver.

This sat the standard for the jam, then serious tricks were unleashed… To name but a few: Nick Bridgman Fs 3 and Niek double back flip clearing the hip, Elias Allenspach Seatbelt to fakie, Noah Viktor and Leon Guetl´s impeccable style, Maisie Potter stylish BS airs and rotations and Emma Lacarrere´s massive flight… check out the video for more action!

Later on, Leopard Ale’s Oli Gittler & Tim Tang spiced up the Electric Après Ski on the mic, and passed it on to everyone for a ridiculously fun battle turned into karaoke on the terrasse…(The absolute highlight was a karaoke version of “Barbie Girl”🤣).

The day culminated at the classic “Place” venue with DJ Scott Nixon dropping beats into the riders melted minds (Special mention to the 2alpes crew and Emma for their antics).

Day 2 was not your everyday Monday as the meeting point was set at “Petit Pin”, an abandoned restaurant turned into a multi obstacle spot…

The session started after lunch on the terrace gap and the hungover folks enjoyed an amazing show by Valentino Guseli, setting the bar very high, varying tricks from fs 7 to switch double corks and a beauty of a switch method.

Roli and Niek Van der Velden went big as well as local Mehdi Comeau while Simon Pircher distinguished style equally wet the panties of judges and all genders…Arturs Cukunde from Latvia went for broke too as well as “Shrederiqueeee”…

Amateurs went for it as well and young rippers Abel Tréand and Alfred Sutton (fs 3 melon to tailgrab) showed they are on the way to the bigger leagues.

Then a final session went down on a quarter pipe against the wall and balcony of the building for more prizes to be won.

Unfortunately, the ultimate session on a street balcony rail was canceled due to the crazy temperatures that made the spot unrideable but hey, we’ll save that for another edition! From -20 degrees last year to +20 degrees this year, the resort of Avoriaz always delivers.
